You have to really pinch to get curvature for a nickle shape. Not sure you can do a dime. The sand paper can slide some. Have not had it long, so there could be a learning curve.

I would have prefered metal instead of plastic.
Extra pre cut sand paper would also be nice.
The sand paper is not course enough to shape hard tips.
I was buying them for a friend but I kept one to smooth the sides of new tips after I trim them.

This product is TOO flimsy for the length... I used to own a metal shaper that was exactly the same as this product but had lost it... also the sandpaper is much finer than previous versions I have used... if you buy this product, I suggest getting a smaller grit paper or you'll be shaping your tip for longer than necessary... the fine paper had a tendency to hold the leather particles and any chalk in it's surface rendering it unusable over a short period of time

Not a waste of money. But plan on replacing the sand paper it comes with after 2 strokes. Save that piece so you can cut nice strips out of good sand paper.

This has worked pretty good for something so simple and cheap to shape tips to a nickel radius. Works a lot better than those cheap ones that come in a 2 pack with one for a dime and the other for a nickel with a scuffer on the opposite side.

It's good for removing a lot of leather in a short time, but exact precision with this is nearly unattainable. I recommend the Willard for exact shaping, but this is good to get it started.

The shape is good for initial tip shaping. But the sandpaper slides around; you have to hold it in place.

Although the product does perform its intended purpose satisfactorily, you do have to hold the abrasive paper strip in place...it tends to slide easily out of the molded piece...!!! I'm finding that my old tried n' true method of course sandpaper works just as well...!!!

It\'s great for initial shaping of a new tip when a lot of leather must be removed, but I think there are better products to do the final shaping of the tip. Quickly removes a lot of material from the tip.

It\'s a nice tool when you have to remove a lot of leather from the tip (e.g. to make the tip harder).
It does work, but I prefer the Willard Cue Tip Shaper, because of it\'s gauge on the side.
