These numbers indicate the carrying capacity of the case. The first number represents the number of Butts, and the second represents the number of Shafts. For example, a 2x4 case holds 2 cue butts and 4 shafts. This allows you to carry your primary cue, a break cue, and multiple backup or specialty shafts.

What is the difference between a Hard Case and a Soft Case?

Hard Cases: Constructed with a rigid tube or molded interior (often PVC or wood) covered in vinyl, felt or leather. They offer maximum protection against impacts, "crushing," and temperature changes.
Soft Cases: Made from padded fabric or flexible synthetic materials. They are lightweight and easier to carry but provide less protection against heavy impacts or bending pressure.

Will my 30-inch or "Long" shaft fit in a standard case?
