Frequently Asked Questions

Where are Viking Cues made?

Every authentic Viking cue is handcrafted in their facility in Middleton, Wisconsin. They have been manufacturing out of their facility in Middleton since 2013, maintaining full control over the design, engineering, and seasoning of their wood under one roof.

What is the difference between Viking and Valhalla cues?

Viking cues are premium, American-made products featuring advanced technology like the ViKORE shaft and a lifetime warranty that includes warping. Valhalla is Viking’s high-quality import line. While designed and engineered by the same team, Valhalla cues offer a more affordable entry point for beginners while still maintaining a solid reputation for durability.

What joint pin does Viking use?

The standard Viking line uses a proprietary 5/16 x 18 Quick Release stainless steel joint. This pin allows for a secure, high-precision connection with only a few turns. Valhalla cues typically use an industry-standard 5/16 x 18 full-thread joint, making them compatible with a wide range of aftermarket accessories.

Does Viking warranty against warping?

Yes. Viking offers a Lifetime Warranty that specifically covers warpage. This applies to the original owner for all American-made Viking cues (F-Series and later). Valhalla cues also carry a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects and warping, which is rare for an import brand.

What is unique about Viking’s "Finger-Joint" construction?

Viking rarely uses metal dowels to hold the butt sections together. Instead, they use a "finger-joint" method where the wood pieces interlock like teeth. This creates a stronger structural bond, improves the cue’s natural straightness, and provides a more harmonious "one-piece" feel during the hit.

What tip comes standard on Viking cues?

Viking cues typically come equipped with a Tiger Everest laminated leather tip, while Valhalla cues often feature a premium Triangle or Le Pro tip. Both are chosen for their reliability and ability to hold chalk well for players of all skill levels.

How long is the wood seasoned before becoming a Viking cue?

Viking is meticulous about stability. They season their Hard Rock Maple for 18 to 24 months in a climate-controlled environment. This extended conditioning process is why they are confident enough to offer a lifetime warranty against warping.

Can I use a different brand of shaft on my Viking butt?

Because Viking uses a specific Quick Release pin, most standard 5/16 x 18 shafts will not fit perfectly without modification. However, many major performance brands (like Triple 60, Predator or Mezz) offer shafts specifically threaded for the Viking joint.

What is Viking's "Super Ferrule"?

Viking uses a proprietary, high-impact resin ferrule that they claim is virtually indestructible. It is designed to be reactive and transfer energy efficiently to the cue ball while resisting the cracking or chipping that can happen with cheaper plastic ferrules.
